Agenda
Mentor request
: Scott Stevenson has
graciously accepted to mentor Michele Tedd and will immediately begin
fulfilling this role
Officer Installation: Installation of 2005-2006
officers will occur today during regular meeting. Special guest Carole Petranek, our District 7 Governor, will preside over the installation. All officers but Genie and Aaron will be in
attendance.
Dues
discussion: TMI dues will probably increase by 50%
in September. Scott suggested that
the local dues also increase by 50% in order to financially maintain club
responsibilities such as supplies and the library for new members. There will be more discussion to
follow. This must be voted on by
the membership to go into effect October 1st, 2005.
Concerns were addressed regarding
possibility of losing membership due to higher dues. Consensus was that the benefits of
Toastmasters far outweighed the membership cost.
Membership
Discussion: Officers agreed that an
Open House should happen once per quarter. Tentative next Open House
will be in October.
Brainstorming:
- Need to focus on possible
new members from both Xerox and Mentor Graphics.
- Plan at least 6 weeks in
advance of open House and communicate to all members.
- Cathey has agreed to
create a new brochure that can be emailed to all officers and members as a way
of advertising our organization.
- Possible directives/benefits:
- Competition (3 new members (free
membership))
- Incentives for member who invites
most new members into TM
Upcoming Speech
Contest: To be held October
6th (Area 64) and October 13th (Willamette Division). Two different contests: Table Topics and Humorous
Speech
Miscellaneous: Alexis will bring in CD
of past Toastmaster Speech competition and Scott will show it on his PC during a
meeting in the future.
Cathy was recently in an
automobile accident. She does not
have major injuries and reported that she is now doing well and sporting a new
Honda to boot! Cathy, we are glad
you are okay!
Alexis informed the
officers that she has resigned from her position at In-Focus in order to focus
on another career…Real Estate. She
calmed everyone down by letting us know she will continue to be a member of
Toastmasters… (Phew).
